Have you ever found yourself lost on a road , it may be you have missed the turn or you have taken the wrong way, but now you have hours and hours driving on a road that does not lead to your destination, similar situation happens in your life too, Ignoring the guidance from your intuition for years and years you are going on a wrong path resulting in a lack of clarity in your life . In simpler terms, you didn't follow the instructions given by the higher power's Google Maps, and now you're not getting any instructions and you are Stuck. Stuck in a loop of your beliefs that society has imposed on you.

It may reflect in different ways such as :

-Low self-confidence or self-esteem

-Increase in negative thoughts

-Low focus and clarity

-frustration

-loneliness

-Trust issues

-Anxiety

-Depression

-Inhuman Behaviour

-Suicidal thoughts


Simply saying your life becomes messy, you are not interested in anything, something is missing inside you and you are trapped in a loop, human race or driven by the ideology of others.

A teacher who taught swimming had two students come to him , one had some knowledge of swimming, while the other was completely new to the subject. The teacher asked the student who knew swimming to pay double the fee. When asked why, the teacher explained that the student would have to work harder because they would have to correct wrong principles developed from their incorrect practices, which would be harder than teaching a new student.

This story reflects our lives. From childhood, society and people teach us to live life in a predefined manner, making us forget our true identity. We often get caught up in a social race and lose our way. In such situations, we need to work much harder to recognize ourselves.


Through this article, I want to express my opinion, which might be helpful to you as I am also going through this phase and gradually discovering myself.


What do you mean by feeling lost ? Why does anyone will feel lost?


When does will someone feel lost ?

Does it mean deep inside ,he/she knows purpose of life? and when you compromise on it either through your actions, values and thoughts you feels lost!

So what if I tell you that if you are feeling lost , you are on a path of self discovery.

Feeling lost is often considered to feeling of lonliness or it is also reffered as "Depression" but in reality it is blessing that you are feeling lost , it means that you are moving towards self-realisation or discovery and you are a seeker seeking for true purpose of your life.


Most of people in the world spend their life following others and not even realising that they are on a wrong path and suddenly life ends one day.


There may be plenty of personel reasons of feeling lost ,It may include

  • You dont like your job.

  • You have lost your loved one.

  • Regrets

  • There is societal or family pressure on you which is stopping you for doing anything you want and your core values are getting compromised.

  •  Unfavourable circumstances

  • Any setbacks due to health, wealth and family


There are mainly two stages of feeling lost or self discovery.


Stage 1 : You don't know yourself or what you want in life.

Stage 2 : You are not able to do what you want in life.


Stage 1-You dont know what you want in life- You don't know what you want in life , you are simply getting derived by society or people around you which is making you sick inside.


But Why ?


-You don’t t know yourself


"if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree , it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."


If we don't even know who we are and we are doing tasks that may go against our basic nature, then surely we cannot succeed in them. So if you feel that you are feeling lost, it is possible that you may not know yourself. In such a case, it is essential to introspect and figure out what you want to do.


if we continue doing the activity that we dont beleive as per our basic nature this will lead to make ourselves sick reaching a saturation point feeling lost .

So it is important to check ourself following a wrong way because our time is limited and to avoid any regret at any point in life.


Ask yourself

"Who are you at the origin?" Do you know yourself ?What do you like? What you dont like ? , What is your Bhagatsudha(Passion) with which you can contribute in this world?

 

When you dont know yourself , you lack clearity and derived by ideology or purpose of others.

  • Ask yourself who are you , develop habit of self inquiry


All Doubts will cease only when the doubter and his source have been found. It is no use endlessly removing doubts.if we clean up one, another will arise and there will be no end to them.But if the doubter himself is found to be really non-existent by seeking his source ,then all doubts will cease.

How to Find Yourself if you are in Stage 1


Connect with nature


Human body is made up of five elements Water , Air , Earth , Fire and Space. Connecting with these elements maintain balance in human body.when you are disconnect yourself from these basic elements of nature , you will start getting away from yourself so here is how these elements are going to help you

  • Walk barefoot on soil or grass , This will not only massage your feet but also balance your energies , Consuming plant based food , fresh fruits and vegetables supports a good physical and mental wellbeing

  • Water not only refreshes our body it also refreshes our mind , our body is made up of about 60 percent water , Drink adequate amount of water throughout the day to maintain good body balance.

  • Doing yoga and pranayama helps in balancing and igniting the inner fire element in our body. Taking care of digestive fire by mindfull eating , adequate eating and having vegeterian or satvik food.

  • Doing Pranayama (breathing exercise) is helpful in balancing the air element of body establishing clarity and focus in life. Focussing on breath is also considered a way of meditation and practice mindfulness , when we are practice focussing on breath while doing our daily routines it reduces overthinking and increases focus and clarity.

  • Practicing meditation to understand your inner space and practicing different creative hobbies will let you experience that space. Do small changes in life to bring yourself more close to nature . Practice the power of Surrender

Practicing surrender and beleiving in nature , god and higher conciousness will help in removing the unnecessary clutter and fear in our life.

  • Pray to God and universe to show you the path and purpose of life

  • Thank the universe for all the good things happening in your life

  • Affirm with thought of surrender or mantra daily.


By practicing mantra or thought we are channelising our mind to focus on one single thought , This will not only help in removing other unnecessary negative thoughts but also let our body and mind to rediate to universe , beleiving in it. You can practice any mantra , to start with , I can help you with one mantra that is very famous in Hindu Indian religon


"Om Namo Bhagvate Vasudevaya"

Meaning : "Om" is the primary sound of the universe , "Namo" is reffered to bow down or surrender , "Bhagvate" is the divine within and "Vaudevaya"is for Lord Vishnu. By chanting this mantra we are bowing down to the divine within and Lord Vishnu "

Think there is darkness all around and you are just moving with someone , you are just following him no matter what because there is darkness all around and there comes a point where that person leaves you , now there is complete darkness , what will you do ?

"Be a lamp unto yourself. Be your own refuge, seeking no other. Let the Dharma be your guide."


Meaning seek your guidance from within and being always guide to be your light on your own.

We all have unique talents we are born with , It may dancing , singling or may be spreading love. Deep dive within and self inquire yourself

"What is talent with which you can help the world"


and Practice the answers you get from within , your talent is always there with you. It is like story of Hindu God Hanuman Ji was unaware of his powers until he met Lord Shri Ram , it is then he realised his powers.

Stage 2-You are not able to practice what you want in life.


But Why ?


-You are not taking any action


As Guru Nanak Dev Ji said "Soche soch na howai, je soche lakh vaar" meaning By thinking, He cannot be reduced to thought, even by thinking hundreds of thousands of times.


Does it happen to you ? You have got an idea for doing something which will bring you more closer to your goals , you start making plans , you do all the reserach and may be buy things that will help you with your idea but when it comes to take any action you are ignoring or delaying to take action which ends up loosing your idea.


It is reffered to as procastination, it is a habitual loop which has formed over a period of time , our brain start working to procastinate if you are overthinking and not taking action , it leads to frustration , sadness , negative thinking and we feel lost in a loop.


Practical TIP

  • Practice enjoying taking action on your idea/goals.


You are ignoring your intiutions

Intiutions are feeling or you can say vibes which are originated from your core , intiuitions are guiding force which derive you on your path to find and pursue your passion and life goals When you ignore your flow of life ,which you call it your soul or atman is sending you signals through intiutions that you are getting lost from your path

  • Pray to universe , god and Divine which you beleive in for grace on you.


-You are focusing on negativity


It is the universal law of nature whatever you focus on it grows , it is the basic of manifestation. If you are feeling lost you may be thinking on negative side of things.

-You dont beleive in yourself


There are plenty of reasons , A person who is feeling lost may feel low self esteem , have more negative thoughts , trust issues, frustated with the thoughts of others , dont feel himself/herself , beleive sytem is effected and dont have clearity in life.


But at the core of you , "you need to realise who is feeling lost , it is you ? your body and Brain or Is it anything else ? "


and when you realise this , your self discovery journey is started.


-Adverse Circumstances


It may happen that circumstances or situations are against you and your goals . It may happen that you don’t feel motivated or your motivation comes and goes . In Hindu religion , it is beleif that whatever we have done in our life or our previous life we have to face the same. if you are feeling lost it may be destined to happen because of your karma in past , you need to face the struggle to find yourself , At that time one must try to believe in onself , faith in God and have a positive approach.


How to Find Yourself if you are in Stage 2


Practice your Dharma


As per the teachings of Ramana Maharshi

"Action performed unselfishly purifies the mind and helps it to fix in meditation"


As Osho said

"Work, but don’t expect. Don’t let success go to your head and failure to your heart. Do your work and then forget about it. Whether it’s a success or a failure, it has nothing to do with you. When you don’t expect, you are open to receive all that life has to offer


As Buddha Said

"To follow the path of Dharma is to find serenity, to know how to trust, and to experience joy in every moment."


What these great human souls are telling us to follow tha path of Dharma without any expectation and when we practice we soon realise the exctacy of life , the real joy from within which is always there with us.

Various relegious ask to follow the path of Dharma that is your duty that God has given you to fulfill in your lifetime when you realise your unique talent and how it can be used for Humanity and world around us it is your Dharma to follow tha path

  • Practicing Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation

  • Have a Positive Approach and growth mindset: One must practice having a positive approach, This will not only help

  • Reading and Meeting or listening to people that uplifts you.

  • Get away from Distractions.

  • Accepting yourself and taking action instead of planning

  • Listening to your intiutions

  • Practice creativity for yourself


Knowing yourself is the first step anyone should take if feeling lost in the world. Spending time with yourself , meditate , reading books and travelling will help in knowing yourself and when you know what is your life purpose , you should put your focus on practicing your Dharma that is the ultimate goal and you will be blissfull and give your contribution to the world.
